Transport

new Transport pic.jpg

With the support of TfNSW, BMACRC provides an affordable transport option for Aboriginal residents of the Blue Mountains. With the Blue Mountains being spread over a large area along the Great Western Highway, distance and isolation can severely limit people’s access to services, especially when they lack personal transport.

Our Community Transport program aims to assist with accessing essential services, reduce social isolation and improve the quality of life for our clients. Our service area covers between Mt Victoria and Nepean Hospital. Any transport outside of this area, may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

To be eligible for CHSP (Community Home Support Program), clients must be:

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

  • 50 years of age or older.

  • Signed up to ‘My Aged Care’ and have nominated BMACRC to provide transport - If you are not signed up, please contact our Community Programs - Elders Support.

To be eligible for CTP (Community Transport Program), clients must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and fall within any one of the following conditions:

• Financially disadvantaged.

• Socially disadvantaged.

• Linguistically disadvantaged.

• Cognitively disadvantaged.

• Isolated or living in a remote area.

• Lacking public transport.

• Living with a disability but do not qualify for NDIS.

Who is Eligible?

Our transport service is for Aboriginal residents of the Blue Mountains who are eligible for one of the two following programs.

Pricing and Zones

Booking and Fees

Bookings should be made at least 48 hours ahead of time where possible and can be made by phone on 02 4782 6569.

Fees are charged for each trip and apply to each adult travelling on the trip.  A “trip” is a one-way drive from one location to another. Being collected from your home and taken to your destination and then returned home again, will have completed two trips. Any extra stops required are additional trips and fees are calculated based on the zones travelled.

The area serviced by BMACRC is divided into four zones and fees are calculated for each trip based on these zones:

1. A trip within a single zone = $3.00

2. A trip crossing from one zone to another = $6.00

3. A trip covering three zones = $9.00

4. A trip covering all four zones = $12.00
